When A Teacher Crosses The Line

A disturbing story in the news today about a middle school guidance counselor/chorus teacher and voice coach who was arrested after allegedly having a year long relationship with one of his 14 year old female students. Here are my thoughts about how parents can talk to their teens about this kind of inappropriate teen/teacher relationship.

PS: If you have my book and are finding it useful, please consider writing a review on Amazon. I would be so appreciative!

  1. Joani, I've theorized that many of these relationships (including those involving female teachers) are ultimately the result of our society's failure to teach our children how to cope with emotion. Add in the fact that so many confuse "feelings" with "love" and we wind up with entire generations incapable of distinguishing the two and, effectively, becoming slaves to feelings and emotion. It's as if we've raised millions of "adults" who allow emotions and feelings to guide their decisions. I believe most, if not all, of these teachers view the students with whom they become involved as peers.
